Opel Vectra technical FAQ

Question:

I’ve had a starting problem with the V6 Vectra for a little while, but it’s generally been insignificant in the past. The engine turns over, tries to start, gets nowhere, try again, and it’s usually kicked into life. But now, I’m not having such luck…

The car turns over as usual, but is not actually starting. I’ve checked the codes, and got the 0335 crank sensor fault come up, and also checked the fuel (which is okay), and the spark (none), indicating it is indeed the crank sensor. Only problem is, the car has occasionally decided to start! I tried maybe a dozen times this morning, with no luck. Tried this afternoon another dozen times, and still no luck. The 0335 fault was persistent (even after the engine turning), but on the last attempt, she fired into life! It’s done this two days in a row, no start, no start, and then finally start!

Question:

I’ve recently discovered a build up of white sludge in my coolant reservoir. I have attempted to flush the radiator in the past to no avail, I’ve also asked a a shop to do so whilst they serviced the car but the best they could do was siphon half the fluid then replace the fluid. There was one hose I’d thought about taking off to do this, yet could never find a method to removing it.

The olders cars you can run the paper clip on them to find the fault code.
Tested with a 2.6 GSi and flashed the em light.

How to do it.

1, Press brake and accelerator peddle (keep pressed down)
2, Turn key to acc (number 2)
3, Wait a few seconds this will do the same as the paper clip test with out having to link pins like the older cars

Question:

Bought my vectra cdxi in november last year. I was and am very happy with it except for a couple of things that irritate me sometimes… They are as below..
About 4 months ago, i noticed increased coolant use and kept toppin up every month or so until I toook it to holden and they said it needed a new heat exchanger and quoted me 2500$ to replace.

Question:

2001 Vectra 2.6 V6 (Y26SE) Misfiring and emission light coming on. Need solution!
This problem does not occur every time we drive the car. When driving at constant speed there is a misfire and the car jerks for a while and the emission light comes on and then it will fire and the emission light goes off. These symptoms can also occur under acceleration or while trying to take off from standstill but has never affected idling. When it happens from standstill the engine stalls and is reluctant to restart/fire. I have had the car scanned but no fault codes have been logged. Does anybody here have a solution as my mechanic doesn’t?

Widows get very dirty, very quickly these days with all the traffic. There are hundreds of spray cleaners to pick from, aren’t there? And they all work, but the best method is to use a page of newspaper, dipped in warm water, to which some vinegar has been added. There is no need to rinse or polish, but the glass does come up a treat, if you dry it off with dry newspaper too.

I got rubbing when go over bumps with 4 people in the car. Rub in the rear. Bumper tabs were trimed. Try to roll fender, but don’t know how and where to roll. Is there any special tools to do the job? Is anyone can show me some photos that the fender had been rolled?

Question:

I’ve recently bought a 2005 Vectra CDx and the previous owners were smokers.
So I’ve had the car detailed and ozone treated which has probably got rid of about 85% of the smell, but it’s still lingering in the air con. I’ve read that changing the air con filter can help, so I thought I’d do that, but haven’t got a clue where to go to buy a new pollen filter. Anyone changed theirs – anything I should know?
